Sacramento County supervisor subject of review

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The state's political watchdog is reviewing votes by Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters to determine whether she violated California law by approving projects at an airfield near property she owns.

The Sacramento Bee reported Tuesday (http://bit.ly/1oYcjcb) that Peters has voted for dozens of improvements at Mather Field despite having an ownership interest in two office buildings and land at the former air base.

Gary Winuk of the Fair Political Practices Commission tells the newspaper the agency should decide within a week whether to open a formal investigation of Peters.

She faces a civil fine of up to $5,000 for each violation if regulators determine she has violated the Political Reform Act.

Peters tells the Bee that she has followed the law and will not vote on any Mather airport issues in the future.
