SWAT team finds suspect dead in suburban LA home

WEST COVINA, Calif. (AP) — Police say a SWAT team entered a suburban Los Angeles home after a roughly six-hour standoff to find the suspect dead inside.

West Covina police Cpl. Rudy Lopez says SWAT officers went in at about 9 a.m. Thursday after hours of silence despite efforts to reach the suspect by phone and loudspeaker. A man was found dead inside of an apparent gunshot wound. No one else was in the home.

Lopez says the suspect likely committed suicide, but detectives are still investigating.

The man hasn't been identified and it's unclear if he lives in the house.

The incident began hours earlier when officers investigating reports of a loud bang heard more gunshots.

Those shots all came from inside the home.
