LOS ANGELES (AP) — The first game in a three-game weekend set in Los Angeles between the first-place Dodgers and first-place Brewers is being played tonight. The Brewers top the National League Central while the Dodgers lead the NL West.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Effective January 2015 Major League Baseball will have a new commissioner in place. Current chief operating officer Rob Manfred was named the game's tenth commissioner yesterday in a vote of the owners. He replaces the retiring Bud Selig (SEE'-lihg).

CLEVELAND (AP) — Johnny Manziel (man-ZEHL') will have to wait at least another week before he gets to start an NFL game. Browns coach Mike Pettine (PEH'-tihn) has announced that Brian Hoyer will start Monday's exhibition game against Washington.
