RENO, Nev. (AP) — The parents of a Sparks boy who killed a teacher and wounded two classmates at his middle school say he had been teased about a speech problem. Jose Reyes says he and his wife "had no idea" their son was so upset or troubled. They said they don't understand why he opened fire at Sparks Middle School Oct. 21.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Former Nevada state legislator Wilbur Faiss has died at the age of 102. Faiss died Saturday in Carson City, where he had been hospitalized recently. Faiss was elected to the state Senate in 1976. The North Las Vegas Democrat said his proudest moment was voting for the Equal Rights Amendment.

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have identified a 49-year-old man who police say was shot dead while trying to break in to his estranged girlfriend's Henderson apartment. Clark County coroner's officials say Frank Brzozowski was killed early Sunday. Police say he was shot by a male acquaintance of the woman. No charges have been filed.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 44-year-old kindergarten teacher has been arrested after a missing 16-year-old girl was found at his southeast Las Vegas home. Clark County school police tell the Las Vegas Su the girl was found unharmed and in good health after investigators used social media to trace her Melvyn Sprowson Jr.'s home. She told police she was at the home willingly.
